Empowering Uttarakhand with 13,500+ household biogas plants
This project installs over 13,500 household biodigesters across rural Uttarakhand, replacing traditional wood-fired stoves with clean, renewable biogas systems. Powered by cow dung, these Deenbandhu-model digesters provide a sustainable cooking fuel, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and curb deforestation. They also improve rural hygiene through proper waste management, while producing nutrient-rich organic fertilizer that enhances soil health and agricultural productivity. Certified under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the project delivers measurable climate benefits alongside improved livelihoods and energy access.
